The school holidays have ended and a new session has begun, with great excitement in the case of our Primary One girls, who enjoyed their first full day of big school yesterday. By the end of the second day they were still smiling – but a little weary. Getting used to new classes, new buildings and new routines can be exhausting, but all our students have been well prepared for the various transitions they have made. We are delighted to welcome so many new students this term.
We received the last of the school’s examination results this week: our new Lower 6 students opened the envelopes containing their GCSE grades yesterday, and the full details of all our results are on the website. The results have been very pleasing at every level, and we are particularly happy that more than 90% of our sixth form leavers will be going to their first choice of university. I congratulated our sixth form students at the first assembly of the year and, whatever their results, they know that we are proud of them all.
Our support staff have been busy throughout the summer holiday, and I hope you get a chance to enjoy the lovely grounds and see the face-lift that the Robertson Music Centre has received. Other works are less visible and have included the rewiring and redecoration of the Nursery.
We look forward to the new school year and wish the whole community a very happy session for 2016-2017.
