Alex Hems: Safe Return to School August 2020
We are looking forward to welcoming all our students back to school this week. Our top priority is that everyone should feel safe and comfortable in returning to school.
In the St George’s Nursery, I know that the team are very excited to be seeing all the children again.
Junior school girls will have a staggered start over two days, to enable their teachers to give time to induction for every girl, as she gets used to being back at school after 5 months away.
We have a variety of measures in place to create a safe but welcoming environment here at St George’s. Hand sanitiser is available at every entrance, and on corridors across the school.
A one-way system in our larger buildings and designated entrances and spaces for different year groups will help us to minimise contact between students of different ages.
Doors and windows are open to increase ventilation and reduce touch points as we move around.
Changes in our timetable mean there is less movement around the site overall.
Everyone has clear information on what to do if they feel unwell at school or at home.
In our boarding house girls will have their temperature taken every morning before they leave, and everyone has a designated shower and toilet cubicle to use.
There is more information on our website about e-learning at St George’s, and our educational philosophy. If you would like to find out more about how we are for a safe and happy return to school at St George’s, please contact Admissions either by phone or email.
