On Monday 19 March the Primary 5s visited the Scottish Parliament and met with MSP Jeremy Balfour. When we arrived, we had to go through a quick security check and were welcomed by staff and given a tour of the building where we learned about the history of the building and the people that work there. We saw the famous debating chamber and our tour guide showed us how each MSP spoke and voted at their seat. It was very interesting.
From there we went into a nearby meeting room where we met Jeremy Balfour. He is the Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP for the Lothian Region. We asked him lots of questions about being an MSP and learned that his favourite part about his job is being nosy and finding out lots of information about things happening around the city. He also told us how much he loved debating but that he feels there should be more women and disabled people as MSPs. We had a wonderful morning and learned lots of facts relating to our Politics topic.
