Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Last week the junior school took part in British Science Week. Every year group was given a question to answer about a science topic that each year group has been learning about. There was going to be a prize for the class with the highest percentage of responses.
Here are the questions we had to think about:
- P1: How is sound made?
- P2: Investigation: Roll a 20p and a 10p coin. Which coin rolls on its edge faster or for longer. Why?
- P3: What is the 'greenhouse' effect?
- P4: Why does ice float on water?
- P5: How does a hot air balloon work?
We had a lot of entries from all the year groups. Every one did a fantastic job answering these questions. Some added scientific diagrams with their explanations too! Emmea in P2 made a colourful solution by mixing liquids and solids and Beth Obe in P3 made a hovercraft for Science Week. We will be announcing the winner of the 'class challenge' shortly! Well done, everyone!
