Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
When we arrived at Merchiston, we walked through the doors and got a lovely welcome by the staff and boys. We went through to the main hall, and everyone was sitting down on the long benches. We were paired up with a boy and we walked through the first dance, which was the Gay Gordons. We danced this for a while and then we walked through the second dance.
After we finished this dance, our partners took us down to the dinner hall. We sat boy, girl, boy, girl and talked for a while and then we went up table by table to get our delicious lasagne and garlic bread. There was also a wide variety of salad. After this, we sat down and talked for a bit longer until the dinner staff brought us some lovely chocolate and vanilla ice cream topped with a flake. As we finished up with our ice cream, we had some musical entertainment by Yvette and Georgia who sang a wonderful song. After that, we heard a Merchiston boy play ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ for us on his saxophone. Lastly, we had another piece of musical entertainment which was a group of girls from St George’s singing.
We went back up to the main hall and listened to a Merchiston boy who played a song on the piano. Then we danced to more dances with our partners and by the time that had finished, it was time to leave a really enjoyable night with the Merchiston boys.
