St George's Girls take Top Honours at the National SSBU Primary Badminton Championships!

At the weekend, top shuttlers from the country's Primary Schools gathered at the impressive Perth Bell Stadium. There were around 50 girls and over 75 boys in the singles and doubles categories, all qualifying after finishing top in their respective national regions. Edinburgh took a strong squad to the challenge including two St George's girls. Vibha (Remove), seeded top in the girls’ singles, won the title, moving effortlessly through the group stages before seeing off tough challenges in the semi-finals and finals.

Deepti (Primary 5), also competing for the first time in the Primary championships, lost a tough match in quarter-finals after topping her pool. Vibha and Deepti then joined forces to the fly the St George’s flag again in the doubles, coming out victorious, beating another Edinburgh team from Bruntsfield in the final. Well done to Vibha for achieving the double and to Deepti for helping secure a clean top sweep for St George’s in the Primary Nationals!
