Students in Upper 6 and others participating in Model UN have taken part in a workshop programme with input from both Israelis and Palestinians who have lived through the conflict, as well as senior members of Jewish and Muslim communities, in order to enable them to make a positive, solutions-focused contribution to debates on Israel-Palestine. Our students explored a one-state or two-state solution, with reference to the complex ethnic, religious, economic and political divides in the region.
This is our second visit from this inspiring group - whose hopes of some sightseeing in Edinburgh last week were dampened by heavy rain – and they are keen to continue to work with our students in their Student Leadership Programme in which Fiyin (U6 Leaver 2019) participated with great success this summer, “impressing with her contributions to the discussion, the questions she asked and the way she conducted herself - truly a testament to the school and wonderful individual.”
