On Thursday in the common room a group of us did origami and we became very interested in the process. We had a large selection of coloured paper, as well as lots of (slightly unhelpful) instructional diagrams. Most of us began with rather simple shapes, like a heart or a cat’s head. Unfortunately, an unwise few of us, myself included, didn’t take the easy route and subsequently found ourselves puzzling our vague instructions on which way to fold in order to make a penguin or swallow. This took far more time than expected.
Needless to say, some of our first attempts were far from perfect, but incredibly fun! In the end, despite the initial difficulties, we all left the Comm with an array of colourful creations and a sense of satisfaction of an evening well spent doing something we all enjoyed.
