Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On Friday 29 November, the Primary 1 girls and their parents met in the Junior School Hall. Suddenly a prince and a witch appeared! The girls were amazed but soon realised that it was Mr Wright and Miss Barr, our school librarians, dressed up!
The event was part of the Scottish Book Trust Week in which Scotland’s favourite picture book is chosen by the children of Scotland. Before the event, Mrs Adams had read three finalist books to the girls and they had voted for their favourite book. The overall favourite in Primary 1 was a story called ‘The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears’.
At the party, Mr Wright and Miss Barr read the story to the girls. It really was like a party because everyone enjoyed cakes, fruit and juice and then the girls were each presented with a Bookbag containing the three books and a few other goodies.
Here are some of the Primary 1 girls favourite parts:
I liked it when the witch did a ninja kick!
I liked when the witch and the prince wrapped us up in their cloaks.
I liked when we got chocolate crispy cake, fruit pots and juice!
Thank you to Mr Wright and Miss Barr for dressing up and surprising everyone and thank you to all our parents and friends who joined us for this event.
