Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Last week the PE department launched our 'School Kilometre Challenge' for Primary 6 - Upper 6, and staff to get involved in, in a bid to encourage everyone to get active and have a break away from screens. Inspired by the 'Doddie Gump' inter-district challenge taking place across Scotland, the PE staff put together a St George’s version… it is not the battle of the districts but the battle of the year groups and teachers! Until half term, pupils and staff are getting active outdoors and battling to clock up the highest number of kilometres covered as a year group or staff collective by walking, running, cycling, scooting, whatever it may be to clock up as many kilometres each day.
As it stands, we have over 270 entries, across pupils and staff. After a lot of wet, icy, snowy weather in week 1, our school community covered over 700km collectively.
The top 3 from the year group leaderboard after week 1 were…
1st Lower 4
2nd Upper 4
3rd Upper 6
However, it was the staff that took an early lead in first place! Will the pupils catch up?
