We have been very busy with our plant topic. Since preparing our planters, we have planted radish, carrot and rocket seeds in them. We are on a weekly rota to water out plants! We love spending some time every day looking after our plants. Our seeds are sprouting fast, and we are so happy. We also have sunflower plants growing in our classroom. We are really excited about replanting them in our gardens!
We are doing some science experiments to find out more about plants. We set up seeds in plastic bags such that they got plenty of water and sunlight but no soil. The question we wanted to explore was, 'Can seeds germinate without any soil?' Most of us thought that the seeds would not sprout without soil. We were really surprised when our seeds did grow a root and a shoot! We need to now plant them properly in soil so they can grow stronger.
For homework, we had to research some plant facts. Did you know that the Venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant and that saffron is more expensive than gold?
