Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
On November 11 several of our Upper School students and one student in Primary 5 took part in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge.
The Challenge is a 90-minute, multiple-choice paper which encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.
All participants have received a certificate of participation. To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, the top-scoring 66% of participants are awarded bronze, silver and gold certificates. Students that are 'Best in Year' or 'Best in School' have also received a badge to denote this on their certificates. The 2021 award thresholds were:
85+ Gold, 66+ Silver, 49+ Bronze
We congratulate Abbey, Trisha and Royce on their Bronze certificate and Kana and Ella on their Silver certificate.
