Data Handling in Active Maths

maths 6 sAt Active Maths last week, all the Primary 3 girls went, in groups of three, to the Fantastical Forest to collect items from nature, such as twigs, stones and leaves. We were given 10 minutes so we all had fun rushing around the forest collecting as many items as we could.

We have been learning how to tally so, once we had collected our items, we returned to the P3 playground and made a tally chart to display our items. These showed the information for each item very clearly!

After this, we used the information from our tally charts to make a pictograph on the playground surface using the collected data. The pictographs were much bigger than if we had drawn them in our jotters!

We had lots of fun and we learnt how to make real tally charts and pictographs!
