Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On Friday 10 March 2017, Primary 6 joined up with the Junior School to teach a peer learning lesson. From nursery to Primary 4, everyone enjoyed learning a new skill. For a few weeks before, Primary 6s had been getting prepared for the lessons. Everyone in Primary 6 had really good ideas and worked hard to create their lesson plans. We needed to make sure that we had everything that we needed to make sure that our lessons were a success.
Here are some of the things that we taught: rock painting, acting, hairdressing, sock puppets, cupcake decorating, sewing, hockey and netball. After the lesson we evaluated our teaching. It also helped us to understand how to teach younger children and what to do better if there is another peer learning opportunity. Primary 6 learnt lots about teaching and some of us knew we probably should have been more prepared, but overall we really enjoyed peer learning.
