Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Last Tuesday, the Primary 1 and Primary 2 girls put on a wonderful show, “There’s a Sunflower in my Supper”, for their parents and grandparents. The girls were spectacular! They had all learned their words for their speaking parts really well and everyone sang beautifully. They danced and acted to bring the songs to life.
The play is about Daisy the cow making a good choice by buying grass seed- not magic beans! She plants the seed and, with some useful advice from the Wise Old Owl, she watches them grow. To all the cows’ surprise, the seeds do not grow into delicious grass that they can eat for their supper, instead they grow into beautiful sunflowers. The story was a great finale for our P2 Plant topic.
The stage was awash with colour; it was full of ‘cows’, who were P2 girls in disguise, an angry bull, a wise old owl and a seed seller. Every girl spoke loudly and clearly. The P1 girls were colourfully dressed as birds, bees, butterflies, ladybirds, market sellers and sunflowers. The market sellers called out to sell their wares and at the end, they became beautiful sunflowers.
Everyone had great fun performing to their families.
Thank you to the parents for helping the girls to learn their words and to all the staff for making it such a success.
