Transition from Nursery to Primary School

A Managed Transition From Nursery to Primary Education

We are proud of our ‘one school’ ethos and it is our wish that all nursery girls transfer to the Junior School.

Nursery girls settle extremely quickly into the new routines and challenges of Primary 1. They have the advantage of knowing the Junior School staff and are familiar with the site.

Throughout their time in the nursery, girls enjoy lessons in the Junior School gym, attend assemblies and performances in the Junior School and enjoy lunch in the St George’s Centre. They also join Junior School pupils in assemblies in the hall, visit classrooms, and work with older children who help them with ICT skills and reading.

Girls in the primary classes in the Junior School often pair up with the nursery and act as good role models. Nursery children are actively involved in whole school occasions such as Eco-days, Sport Relief, Comic Relief, Christmas events, and many others.

From August 2022 boys will be able to join our Primary 1 year. In due course, boys can then move on with their friends into our Primary 2 and can stay with us up to the end of Primary 3.
