Junior School Eco Schools
Junior School Eco Schools Scotland
The Junior School has an eco committee which has representatives from every year group. The eco committee meet several times a term to discuss key environmental issues that have an effect on our school community. Older girls help teachers to write an action plan for the year and they discuss ways to turn their plans into reality.
The club and committee have been thinking of lots of ways to save energy this year and are working on several projects to achieve this. They have invited specialists from our St. George’s IT department to talk to them about energy saving ideas.
The eco committee have been very pleased with the success of their water bottle project. They wanted to reduce the number of plastic cups used in the Junior School and designed, researched and sold water bottles with the St George's logo across the school. They are currently reviewing the impact of this initiative.
The eco committee and pupil council have also joined forces to develop a bug hotel which is situated in our Junior School playground.
