At St George's, we prioritise nurturing the overall well-being of our students. Over the course of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, our Lower School has embraced a special focus on mindfulness and self-care.
Throughout the week of the 13th- 17th May, students engaged in activities that help to promote a positive well-being, including mindfulness & meditation, chalk murals, fitness/yoga, nature bingo and nature art. An assembly lead by our Head, Mrs Chandler-Thompson, highlighted five key habits for a healthy mind:
- Getting enough sleep
- Exercising regularly
- Practising mindfulness
- Connecting with others
- Challenging negative thoughts
Mrs Mushat introduced the "Wellbeing Journal," encouraging students to express themselves mindfully through writing. The week aimed to raise awareness about self-care while involving students in mindful practices.
We're grateful to all who participated in this enriching experience, reaffirming our commitment to the holistic development of our students.
