P5 have had an action-packed term exploring Scotland's rich historical heritage through two exciting trips that brought the past to life.

Lendrick Muir Adventure Camp

The girls were excited to embark on their residential trip to Lendrick Muir, beginning with a visit to the iconic Wallace Monument. "We were so excited for camp," shared Olivia and Julia. "When we got there, we started climbing a hill up to the monument... The space was getting thinner as we went up!" The girls discovered fascinating artefacts including swords and spears said to have belonged to William Wallace.

The residential experience at Lendrick Muir offered fun outdoor activities that challenged the girls' courage and teamwork skills. "We enjoyed all the activities at the camp especially the king swing," the girls reported, though Olivia admitted "her head went a bit funny at the top of the swing!" The Leap of Faith proved particularly exciting, requiring the girls to climb high and jump whilst trying to catch a bar, whilst Nightline tested their trust and navigation skills as they completed a blindfolded rope course.

The camp's survival game added an element of strategy, with girls taking on roles as predators or prey whilst avoiding the teachers who were trying to catch them! Beyond the adrenaline-filled activities, the girls also enjoyed the peaceful side of camp life, including nature walks and environmental awareness activities around the beautiful hills and lake filled with ducks and ducklings.

Bannockburn Battle Experience

The visit to Bannockburn provided an immersive historical experience, recreating the famous battle between Robert the Bruce and King Edward II. "It was very exciting to recreate the battle in a special room!" explained Emily and Amelia. Each girl received a lanyard detailing their role in the battle, allowing them to understand Scotland's military tactics first-hand.

The highlight was trying on replica armour, which gave the girls a real appreciation for the challenges medieval soldiers faced. "Dressing up was really interesting because we got to realise how heavy the armour was that the soldiers would have worn," they noted.

Both trips perfectly combined education with adventure, giving P5 unforgettable experiences whilst deepening their understanding of Scottish history and building confidence through new challenges.
