Support for Learning at St George's Lower School
Towards the end of Primary 5, the student’s Learning Support teacher will assess a girl’s need in consultation with her class teacher and her parents. Following this assessment, information is passed to the Lower School Learning Support staff to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of support. A student identified as requiring continued input meets her new Learning Support teacher before the end of Primary 5 so they already know one another at the start of Primary 6.
The ESOL department supports pupils who speak English as an additional language. They support the work students do in their various subjects, and prepare students for international ESOL examinations such as PET, FCE and IELTS. Classes take place on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. The department operates a flexible timetable that fits around the students other subjects.
