Junior School Students Shine in January's Challenging, Creative Lessons

The new year has kicked off with intellectually stimulating programming across the Junior School, as highlighted on our active Twitter feed.

Challenge Club
A new "Challenge Club" commenced last week for P4 and P5 pupils, offering puzzles and problems to stretch analytical abilities. Teacher Miss Vaughan has prepared various brain-building activities to test girls on critical thinking and innovative solutions.

National Storytelling Week
Imaginations sparked during National Storytelling Week thanks to whimsical books read by Mrs Phebus. Students also got creative sketching winter trees outdoors in a P4 art lesson supervised by Mr Stewart.

Collaborative Learning
Various classes tapped into collaborative learning for subjects like literacy and numeracy. P3 students developed teamwork skills through numeracy games while P5 exercised peer cooperation creating informational posters about Members of Scottish Parliament.

Stop Motion & Camera Obscura
Technology has also been integrated into recent projects. Stop motion videos helped P5 students memorise spelling words. P1 participated in hands-on sensory activities during an excursion to Camera Obscura.

Celebrating Robert Burns
Cultural celebrations also brought some light-hearted fun as pupils across the school honoured Robert Burns last week. From readings to performances, tributes to the bard encouraged appreciation of heritage.

With all of these diverse learning opportunities spanning interactive workshops, outdoor inspiration, academic enrichment and more, our Junior School continues to nurture curiosity and growth. Our pupils are receiving a strong foundation for future achievement at St George's.
