  • St George’s students study a bespoke ‘Best of British’ S3 and S4 curriculum with a compulsory core of GCSE examinations, supplemented by National 5s in selected subjects
  • Alongside Maths (and Further Maths) and English, students can choose from a wide range of GCSE subjects: Biology; Chemistry; Physics; Computer Science; Business Studies; French; Spanish; Chinese; History; Geography; Religious Studies; Music; Food Preparation and Nutrition, as well as the Higher Project Qualification, as part of our Project Pathway
  • Demonstrating the breadth and depth of achievement, 64% of all GCSE examinations (compulsory and optional) taken achieved grades 9-6
  • In those optional subjects, where National 5 is offered (PE, Latin, Drama and Design Technology) an impressive 94% of results achieved grades A-B.
  • The Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), which tests critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and presentation skills, was undertaken by 25 students- over half of these students achieved an A or A*

Today we are celebrating the achievements of our new Lower Sixth students as they received their GCSE and National 5 certificates: the culmination of two years of inspired and exciting work across a full range of subjects and complemented by a diverse co-curricular programme.

As a cohort and as individuals there have been many hard-won success stories from students that reflect the very individualised pathways offered at St George’s. We are celebrating everyone’s achievements today. From the students who joined us age 2 in nursery and have achieved their set of straight 8/9s, to the students who have dealt with relocation mid-way through their S3/4 years and completed GCSE courses in one year with us, studying in their non-native language. It is hard to highlight any single curriculum area, given the breadth of successes but the popularity and success of our Higher Project Qualification pathway is indicative of St George’s commitment to developing our students’ lifelong skills, as well as the ability to excel in examinations.

Working in a way that foreshadows the independence and resourceful approach required at university and in work, our students are honing skills that help them really fly when they reach the challenge of Sixth form and beyond. We can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
