Activities and Outing for Boarders

We organise weekly House events and activities which bring all of the boarders together.These are open to all boarders and their visiting friends. Popular activities include baking and preparing seasonal and traditional dishes from around the world, to film club which runs regularly in the boarders Common Room. 

The 5pm Club

This runs every week day for younger boarders offering a range of recreational activities before supper is served in the boarding house.

Cultural and Recreational Outings and Activities

Every weekend there is an organised House outing led by a member of staff. Popular trips include swimming, bowling, ice-skating and visits to Edinburgh's many historic sites. Other Sunday trips go further and have included Stirling Castle, Durham Cathedral, North Berwick and Linlithgow Palace. Some of these outings are with boys from Merchiston Castle School and the highlight of the boarders' social calendar is their annual ceilidh with friends from Merchiston.

Worship

A number of boarders attend places of worship. The House Staff are very happy to facilitate this and may be able to accompany younger boarders.

From time to time boarders from St George's also attend Chapel Services at Merchiston Castle School.
