Mr Ian Stirling, Council Member, St George's School, Edinburgh

Ian is the co-founder of Muckle Brig: a wine and spirits producer and distributor based in Edinburgh. Over the course of the last decade, his company has raised millions of pounds from investors around the world to construct Scotland’s first vertical distillery in Leith and grown their Lind & Lime gin into a global brand distributed across 25 countries. Ian’s focus is on the brand, marketing and commercial side of the business.

His wife Miriam previously worked at the school in marketing and admissions, and his sister is a former pupil. Ian joined the council of St George’s in March 2025. A keen musician and hillwalker he is also passionate about building prosperity and opportunities in Edinburgh.
