The Dragon Challenge in Middle School
We loved welcoming P6’s from local schools The Compass School Haddington, Cargilfield School and Merchiston Castle School to our Dragon Challenge Day on Thursday 29th January. The children brought excitement, creativity and determination to every challenge. Even more impressive was the way they encouraged one another, worked as teams, and showed real care and kindness throughout the day.
The Dragon Challenge Day was a story-driven interdisciplinary challenge day in which visiting P6 pupils and St George’s girls worked together in mixed clans to restore balance to the lost realm of mythical Draymor! At St George’s we firmly believe that an exciting co-curricular programme helps foster a positive approach to learning in children, that they can then take to the classroom. The sessions during the day incorporated Language and History, Science, Art and Design, and PE. This enhanced student knowledge and, just as importantly, strengthened confidence and communication skills.
We thoroughly enjoyed watching all the P6’s flourish in a supportive and fun setting. They were an absolute credit to their schools, and it was a joy to see so much collaboration, curiosity and confidence in action. We look forward to more adventures next year!

We would be delighted to welcome P5, P6, and P7, children to our free weekly Fearless Fridays from 1:30-3pm. Children are invited to take part in hands-on activities, fun challenges, and a chance to make new friends. Workshops include Art and Animation, Watercolour Wanders, and Artificial Intelligence Explorers.
