Today at St George’s we hosted Fearless Women in Sport, part of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week, which marks its 10th year. Judy Murray chaired a panel with Eilidh Doyle, Trudy Lindblade, Lorna Husband and WP Nel, and the conversation covered what’s working, what isn’t and what the next decade should look like. Around 300 people were in the room, including pupils from ten schools across Scotland.

The conversations didn’t stop there. The expo and working lunch that followed were buzzing with exchanges between pupils, governing bodies, sports organisations and educators, and we loved seeing the ideas and connections that came out of them.

What stood out:
- Pupils got the floor to put their own questions to the speakers, which is the best bit of any panel.
- Judy’s message was clear: we still lose too many girls in their early teens, and PE needs to be taken seriously in every school.
- New Women’s Sport Trust research found 47% of people in Scotland feel proud of Scottish female athletes, but only 17% feel connected to them. Days like this are one way to close that gap.

Our Head, Carol Chandler-Thompson, put it simply: “If you can see it, you can be it.” This is just the start of an exciting future for women's sport in Scotland.
