Middle School Adventures at Lagganlia Outdoor Centre

Last term, our Middle School students swapped classrooms for the Cairngorms as they headed to Lagganlia Outdoor Centre for a week of adventure. The trip wasn’t just about fresh air and fun, it was about developing resilience, teamwork, and confidence!

Day One for our Remove and S1 students was all about settling in and enjoying some fun bonding games. By Day Two, S1 students were busy preparing for their expedition – pitching tents, packing gear, and learning the importance of collaboration – while Remove took on gorge walking, hiking, skiing, and abseiling.

As the week unfolded, S1 discovered their inner explorers on expedition, spending a night under the stars and learning practical skills that build independence. Remove continued to push themselves with activities like climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking.

The trip ended on a high note with a buddy hot chocolate evening, where cross-year groups shared stories and celebrated achievements. It was a moment that captured what this week was all about: friendship, community, and building skills together.

Outdoor education is a cornerstone of our school ethos as adventures like these to Lagganlia provide diverse opportunities for our girls to embrace!
