Sports Celebration 2025
Our annual Sports Celebration brought together the school community to recognise the exceptional sporting achievements of our students throughout the year.
A Year of Remarkable Success
Head of Sport Christine Fourie opened the evening with impressive statistics: "This season, our students took part in 16 different sports, competing in 46 tournaments and participating in approximately 266 games, matches, and races."
The year featured exciting highlights including a Sports Tour to South Africa, our first-ever Football match, and hosting major events like the U14 Scotland Lacrosse Tournament and the launch of Judy Murray's Learn to Lead programme.
Christine emphasised our commitment to inclusion: "At St George's we continued to champion our school-wide 'Sport for All' initiative ensuring that every student had access to our full range of sports clubs." This year saw the introduction of sports clubs for Primary 1 and 2 students, complete with age-appropriate equipment to create a fun and engaging environment.

Guest Speaker and Thanks
The evening featured guest speaker Trudy Lindblade, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland. Christine praised her as "a remarkable leader in what was, not too long ago, considered a male-dominated sport."
Special thanks were given to our sponsors: I-confidential (1XI Hockey Team), Brodies LLP (2XI Hockey Tournament), and Limitless (PE Staff kit), along with our dedicated coaching staff.
Christine concluded with our philosophy: "Our overarching goal remains clear: Sport for Life. We aim to instil in every student the joy of participating in both competitive and recreational sports, helping them carry these healthy habits and values into adulthood."
"Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest when we cheer each other on." - Serena Williams
