Students Shine at Intermediate Maths Challenge and UKMT Primary Kangaroo
On January 28th, several of our Upper School students took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. The Challenge is a 60-minute, multiple-choice paper which encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. It was a challenging but exciting experience for the students, and all received a certificate of participation for their hard work.

To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, the top-scoring 50% of participants are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Students that are 'Best in Year' or 'Best in School' have also received a badge to denote this on their certificates. We congratulate Aarna, Alina, Emilia, Emma, Liyana, Mhairi (S3), Bella, Chimdalu, Isabel, Rachel, Vibhuti, Ziyu (S4) on their Bronze certificate; Harper and Isla K (S3), Adeife, Emmie Linbo, Mavis (S4) on their Silver certificate; Claire, Isla T and Loshe (S4) on their Gold certificate.
Claire and Isla T, being top-scorers, were also invited to take part in the follow-on competition Pink Kangaroo, in which they both achieved a Bronze certificate.
On March 25th, some of our Remove students took part in the Primary Kangaroo 2026. The Primary Kangaroo is part of the International Kangaroo Organisation, which is one of the largest Maths Competitions in the world. This exciting competition is aimed at students aged 9-11; combining fun and accessible problems with challenge to inspire a love of maths. We are proud of our students for getting involved with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
