Nicholas Trowell, Teacher of Modern Languages, St George's School

Growing up in a multilingual home, my love of languages flourished at secondary school with family trips and summer jobs throughout Europe. Languages also provided me with a multitude of additional travel and professional opportunities during my university studies and careers in the British Army and private sector.

The golden thread through all these experiences has been supporting and guiding others to achieve their best. As such, I am delighted to be part of the St George's team; I love that every day I have the privilege of helping each girl to be successful. In my role as a teacher of French and Spanish, my main effort is to ensure every girl has a positive outlook on the wider world around them, incorporating practical language skills to communicate with others beyond their native language(s).

We have a wonderful languages faculty supported by a team of native speaking language assistants to offer the girls an immersive language learning experience, and where possible we offer every girl the opportunity to put their classroom learning into practice on overseas trips.
