A Joyful and Purposeful Term in Junior School and Nursery
It has been a wonderfully full and vibrant term across both the Junior School and Nursery, with learning brought to life through a rich variety of experiences, visits and special events. Alongside this, we are delighted with the strong progress children are making in their learning, with growing confidence, independence and pride in their personal achievements evident across all stages.
Our love of reading was truly centre stage during World Book Day celebrations, which extended into a whole week of literary fun. The children were inspired by visiting authors, browsed eagerly at our book fair, and delighted in dressing up as their favourite book characters. A special thank you goes to our dedicated Junior School librarians and committee, who played a key role in organising and supporting the week’s events. These experiences have supported continued progress in literacy, with children showing increasing enthusiasm, fluency and engagement in reading and writing.
The pupil librarians, alongside our Charities Committee, also demonstrated fantastic initiative and compassion this term. In response to an appeal from a former pupil, they coordinated a collection of book donations for a school in Kenya - an effort that reflects the kindness, leadership and global awareness we are so proud to nurture in our pupils.
Learning beyond the classroom has been another highlight! Various classes have enjoyed enriching outings across the city, including visits to the Chambers Street Museum, the Botanic Gardens, the Usher Hall, and even a trip to Pizza Express, where children combined practical skills with plenty of enjoyment. These real-world experiences deepen understanding and help children make meaningful connections across the curriculum.
Our Nursery children have also been busy, with highlights including a lively and engaging Lingotots session, sparking early language development through music and play, and supporting growing confidence in communication.
In the Junior School, our Primary 5 pupils have made a splash during their swimming programme this term, developing both confidence and skill in the water. We are also celebrating a fantastic winning achievement in the U10 Compass Hockey tournament - well done to all involved! These opportunities not only build physical skills, but also resilience, teamwork and a strong sense of personal accomplishment.
It has been a pleasure to welcome so many families into school this term. Our School in Action Morning gave prospective families a glimpse into the energy and warmth of our community, while our Stay and Learn event for all Nursery and Junior School families provided a special opportunity for current parents to share in their child’s learning and, for primary classes, even stay for lunch together, which was greatly enjoyed by all.
As the term draws to a close, we reflect on a period filled with curiosity, creativity and connection. Most importantly, we are proud of the progress each child has made - academically, socially and personally - and we thank you, as always, for your continued support.
