Our Nursery Staff
About our Nursery staff at St George’s
We have two qualified primary teachers who work full-time in our nursery, one of whom is Head of Nursery. The rest of our nursery staff are experienced specialist Early Years Practitioners. They have talents in many different areas including environmental education, Montessori methodology, Frobellian mindset and graphic design.
We employ the whole team's wealth of knowledge and skills. Our generous staff to child ratio further supports our high level of individual attention at all nursery ages.
Our staff pride themselves on their consistency and continuity of care; some of our staff members have worked with us for many years.
All staff have a minimum of SVQ level 3/HNC early education and childcare/SNNEB, and above.
Activities with specialist staff in our nursery
Specialist staff run regular sessions in music, dance, yoga, ballet, art, science, and social sciences.
We enjoy music lessons with a specialist primary music teacher each week who introduces the children to a wide variety of music and song through play-based interactive experiences. Children play a range of percussion instruments and learn about rhythm.
In addition specialist PE teachers introduce children to basic movement, object-control and balancing. Girls and boys practise the skills of running, jumping, skipping, climbing, balancing, throwing and catching, in a variety of contexts.
All our Nursery staff are registered with the SSSC or the GTCS (General Teaching Council of Scotland)
