Last week, we invited the Little Owls’ and Big Owls’ parents to ‘play and stay’ at our outdoor learning mornings so that they could experience some of the adventures that take place in the Fantastical Forest.
On Monday the Little Owls’ parents stayed on after morning drop-off and followed their children out to the Fantastical Forest to experience their outdoor learning morning. The children demonstrated how well they sit around the campfire having snack. Then they led their parents off to join in on some of the activities on offer. There were stories being read, participation in big collage printing of natural objects, blocks building was taking place, the outdoor xylophone was played, dens were built, trees were climbed and some parents even ventured up onto the tree platform. When the popcorn had popped on the bonfire, everyone enjoyed having a little taste. Great fun was had by all!
On Friday morning, even though the morning was cold and frosty, the Big Owls’ parents headed out to the Fantastical Forest to see what their children were up to. Everyone kept warm around the fire and enjoyed sausages and pitta bread. The girls did an amazing job telling their parents how to keep safe around the campfire and reminding everyone of the rules!
The Big Owls were very excited to have their parents there and enthusiastically gave them a tour around their magical forest. The girls took their parents on an adventure under the treehouse and cooked muddy cakes for them in a willow den! Lots of splashing took place as the rain had created big puddles and some children (and their parents) got covered in mud from head to toe! It was lovely to see everyone playing together and interacting.
Thank you to all parents who joined our outdoor learning morning adventures in the Fantastical Forest. We hope to have another ‘play and stay’ outdoor morning soon! Perhaps when the weather is warmer!
