Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
On Friday, 24th January and in preparation for Burns Day, the Primary 5 girls treated the Junior School girls and Primary 5 parents to a traditional Burns Supper Assembly.
Guests were piped in the door by pipers from the Upper School, before being talked through the stages of a traditional Burns Supper. The girls did a rendition of the "Selkirk Grace" and "Address to a Haggis", which they worked hard to translate from Scots in class. They sang famous Robert Burns songs such as "Deil's Awa Wi' Th' Exciseman" and of course, "Auld Lang Syne". They also demonstrated the popular ceilidh dance, The Military Two-Step.
The girls were so proud to show their hard work to families and to the Junior School, and it certainly got everyone in the mood for a ceilidh!
