Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
This week, in the first Enrichment session after Christmas break, we had a Spring Term Update. We were all able to send off our UCAS university applications before Christmas. 6% of U6 have already heard back from all of their choices and 82% have had at least one decision back. Also, since we are currently doing school online, we were reminded that working towards gathering evidence from the SQA is still very important, especially for those who have received conditional university offers and definite plans to conduct assessments will be confirmed soon.
Those who have received interviews from their university choices were also reminded to contact the school to arrange interview practices which could be internal or external. Online interviews present different challenges from regular interviews so extra practice is beneficial.
With regards to future planned events for U6, the Burns Supper is planned to take place on Wednesday 27 January, during the timeslot when the Enrichment Programme would take place. We will use Teams for the speeches which will either be live or pre-recorded, music will also be performed by U6 musicians. The U6/Staff Student Supper, which would usually take place before exam leave in May, will hopefully take place, subject to restrictions. Plans for after Summer Half Term are also in progression, with a full U6 programme including preparations for life after school, various activities, outside speakers, courses, Leavers’ Fortnight, Speech Day, the Ball and The Revue.
Finally, our Senior Prefect, Amy, spoke to everyone about plans regarding the U6 Ball which we are hoping to have in June. We also started to talk about The Revue which we are hoping will go ahead and initial plans are currently being made.
