Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Schools’ Badminton competition took place on Friday night and Sunday afternoon in the sports hall, with nine St George’s pupils taking part.
In the Under 14 doubles, Maithili (L4) and Amy (U4) finished in 2nd place after winning 2 of their 3 games. Niranjana (U4) and Megan (U4) finished 4th.
In the Under 14 singles, all four girls were placed in the ‘B’ pool after losing their first round games. Maithili was particularly unfortunate to be beaten 24-22. At the end of the round robin event, Maithili finished 5th, while the other 3 St George’s pupils had to be separated by points difference, with Megan narrowly taking 6th, leaving Amy in 7th and Niranjana 8th.
Rachel (U5) and Moa (U5) competed in the Under 16 doubles and came up against strong opponents in their first 2 games, but, they managed a good win in their last match, meaning they finished 3rd overall.
In the senior events, Kirsty (U5) played in the Under 19 singles, while Gigi (U6) and Catriona (U6) played in the Under 19 doubles. In both events the girls went straight into a final and despite performing well, they were both defeated, leaving them in 2nd place.
Well done to all the St George’s girls who took part across both days!
