Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On 4 March, I went to the YDance Scotland's Destinations event that took place in Glasgow. Our dance group, the Ihayami Fusion group, were one of the fourteen groups selected from all over Scotland for this year's event. We were the only dance group who made it from Edinburgh! I was very proud to be part of this event.
I was doing Bharatanatyam (Indian dancing) and it took a lot of practice and hard work to be invited to this competition. On the day we had two technical rehearsals and a dress rehearsal, which was where all the photographs were going to be taken. We then practised the finale and then it was Show Time. The actual performance was amazing and I enjoyed watching the other spectacular dances. My favourite would have to be the hip-hop group called the Honeys, but all the groups that were dancing were brilliant.
The day ended at about 10pm and I was absolutely drained of energy. Despite this, I felt that our whole dance company worked really hard to choreograph the dance and make it happen. I really enjoyed my day and I can’t wait for my next performance!
