Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Dear Parents and Guardians
Due to today's heavy rain, which is forecast to last for most of the day, we have taken the decision to move Speech Night out of the marquee and into the Hall. In the circumstances we feel this will be both safer and a much more comfortable setting for such an important event. This means, however, that it will not be possible to accommodate the whole of Upper School as we would usually do.
We therefore ask that all girls from Upper 4 to Lower 6 should go home at the end of the normal school day, at 3.50pm, unless they are members of the orchestra playing this evening or in the new Student Leadership Team, in which case they will still be required at school this evening. We will only be able to accommodate parents and guests of the Upper Sixth Leavers in the Hall; we are aware that some parents of girls at other stages in the school were planning to come but on this occasion it is right that we give priority to the guests of our Upper Sixth Leavers.
The Reception that has been organised by the Head Girl's mother will go ahead, but will take place in the Lower Centre rather than the marquee.
We are confident that, using the Hall, we can make this a truly special event for our Leavers and their guests.
With my thanks for your understanding and best wishes for the summer.
