Mrs Hay versus Kilimanjaro
04 Sep 2015
At 7.15am on Friday 17 July I made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, tired, relieved and very happy and proud! We followed the Machame route and for five days we made our way up through different climatic zones: rainforest, moorland, alpine and alpine desert. We walked slowly to aid acclimatisation and give ourselves the best chance of summiting. Our porters raced ahead of us carrying everything but the kitchen sink on their heads and it was humbling to watch them: sure-footed, poorly clad and shod but always happy. Primary's First Week Back
03 Sep 2015
Primary 3’s First Week Back P3 girls are settling well into their new classroom routines and have enjoyed meeting their new teachers. They are keen to show off their new independence by coming up stairs to their classrooms on their own in the mornings. All girls have participated in a range of lessons including maths, spelling, writing, art, music and P.E. They have enjoyed sharing holiday stories and making a booklet about their summer time adventures. The first outdoor learning session was a great success with our budding artists starting to make observational drawings of the Upper School building. Primary 2’s First Week Back We are enjoying meeting old and new friends and have welcomed four new girls into Primary 2 ov...
Houldsworth - Open Top Bus Tour
02 Sep 2015
On Sunday 30 August, some of the boarders went on a bus tour through Edinburgh. Fortunately, the weather was fine, so we were able to sit at the top of the double decker bus. We saw Edinburgh Castle, the statue of Greyfriars Bobby, the Royal Botanic Garden, Ocean Terminal and the bustling streets of Edinburgh. We learned lots on the tour, even in French as we could change the language of the guide in our earphones! Overall, we had a good time. Alanna and Taylor, L5
