Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
It was Biology week from 9th Oct to 13th Oct. Mr Ashmore led an assembly in the Junior School to introduce Biology Week. Assisted by some brave volunteers, Mr Ashmore walked us through all the stages of the digestive journey! It was an action packed assembly and the Junior School loved it!
All through the week, our year groups engaged in different activities to understand the world of animals and plants:
The Primary 1s made an ocean in a bottle. They enjoyed learning about sea animals and making the magical ocean.
P2s learnt about skeletons and produced some wonderful displays.
P3s went outdoors for inspiration and made beautiful artwork using natural materials.
P4s had an exciting time learning how detectives solve cases. They learnt some fascinating facts about fingerprints too.
P5s learnt about the human brain and enjoyed posing with their brain hats!
In Science Club, we listened to each other's heartbeats and learned about the digestive system. The girls worked in teams to make lovely displays about what is inside our bodies to show off their knowledge.
As a whole school activity, every year group went online and played the game, ‘Sheep Dash’ to find out about reaction times. On Friday, we had an assembly to share what every year group has been doing as part of Biology Week. We all had a fantastic time. Please visit the Junior School science corridor to have a look at our displays!
