Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
The Primary 3 classes enjoyed a trip to the Botanical Gardens to discover more about their Rainforest topic. They began their exploring in the glass houses where they were allowed to touch the plants and use their senses to discover how different plants adapt to their surroundings in order to survive. They were lucky to be able to touch bamboo and products made from bamboo, such as bowls, socks and musical instruments.
They continued their journey through the glass houses sampling papaya, searching for poisonous plants and discovering how plants use their leaves to catch rainfall in different ways, depending on the shape of their leaves. It was an interesting insight into the plants that shape the rainforests of the world. It was a lovely trip and the girls all enjoyed being Rainforest explorers.
