Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
This year's Edinburgh Primary Schools Sport Association Cross Country Competition was held at Inverleith Park. The competition is a well subscribed event with over 50 schools represented and over 250 runners in each race. It was the Primary 6 girls’ first exposure to an extremely busy start line and they handled it well. Sophie finished inside the top 50, with Isabel and Katherine battling it out to finish 63rd and 64th respectively. Rachel raced well to finish just outside the top 100. In the Primary 7 category, the team of Olivia, Honor, Esme and Charlotte collected 3rd place, with all girls finishing within the top 37 and Olivia finishing 8th overall.
The Scottish Schools Primary Cross Country Championships was held at Kirkcaldy High School. The course is challenging for the runners, with a few steep climbs and a tricky start to navigate. The St George's runners performed well to ensure that they could attack each part of the course. With approximately 120 runners in Primary 6 Race 2, Sophie, Katherine, Isabel and Rachel raced well to ensure a team finish of 9th place. In the Primary 7 Race, Charlotte ran well as an individual to finish 44th out of approximately 110 runners.
