St George’s SQA Examination Results 2018

YES 250wThe students of St George’s School for Girls in Edinburgh are celebrating another excellent set of examination results this year as they learned their SQA examination results this morning.

At Higher level this year, the school attained an impressive 95% pass rate (A-C grade) (national pass rate 76%), maintaining the school’s record for passes in recent years.  58% of examination passes secured were at A, and 83% achieved an A or B grade. 22 (21%) students received all A grades in Higher examinations and 35 (33%) achieved 4 or more A grades in all the examinations they sat.

At Advanced Higher there was an excellent 98% pass rate (A-C grade) (national pass rate 80%), with 65% of grades awarded at A and 86% of grades awarded at A or B grade. 15 (10%) students received A grades in 3 or more subjects.

The Head, Mrs Alex Hems, commenting on the results, said:

‘We are very proud of the hard work and commitment of our students and their teachers. These are our strongest results since 2015 and will give the girls an excellent platform for their university applications and their future careers.

‘Central to my vision for this school is to develop a true passion for study and genuine independence within each and every girl through an inspiring academic and co-curricular programme.  Nowhere can evidence of this be better found than in the Class of 2018 and all that they have achieved.

‘We wish all of our sixth-year leavers the very best, confident that we have equipped them with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their future academic and professional careers.’

“With the support and encouragement of teachers and house parents at St George’s, I was able to follow what interests me and was never made to feel I was asking too much.”
