Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
The Primary 5 girls have been celebrating Robert Burns day, by learning about his life and legacy, and shared this with their parents and the rest of the Junior School during a special assembly on Friday afternoon.
They performed two of his most famous poems; ‘To a Mouse’ and ‘Address to a Haggis’, working hard to pronounce the difficult Scots’ dialect! They had been learning traditional Burns’ songs with Mrs Morrison in music, and they sang ‘Auld Lang Syne’, ‘The Deil's Awa Wi' The Exciseman’ and the traditional Scottish song ‘Mhari’s wedding’.
The Scottish Country Dancing club showed us a typical ceilidh dance, by performing ‘A Jig for Mrs Dunn’. The assembly was a great success and the girls were very proud of their performances!
