Dr Al-Muzian, one of our P2 mums, visited us on Monday 25 February to talk to us about teeth. She explained to us why some snacks are healthy for our teeth and why some are not. Dr Al-Muzian had made a lovely visual display of sugar bags to help us see how many teaspoons of sugar were in each snack.
She told us that we should only have 3 teaspoons of sugar a day and adults should have 6. We know that you must brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes to get rid of all of the sugar bugs. If you don’t, they will leave waste on your teeth which can cause holes to appear! She has left a big model of teeth for us to practise with and gave us goody bags that even had disclosing tablets! When you chew the disclosing tablets, they help us to see the sugar bugs that are stuck to our teeth.
We learnt that it is important to look after our teeth because they do lots of important jobs. They help us chew the food and help us say all our sounds properly. Most of all, they help us smile beautifully! We enjoyed the ‘sugar’ quiz, the story all about teeth and especially the Disney song that Dr Al-Muzian sang for us.
Thank you, Dr Al-Muzian for an amazing talk!
