Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
On Monday 24 February, a VERY excited 'Junior School community' took delivery of 3 large cases containing fabulous new books from the Travelling Book Fair.
On Tuesday we commenced our sale by setting a target of £1,000. We then crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. The book cases were available for one week only to nursery/P1-5 classes during their visit to the library. This gave children an opportunity to browse and purchase. We also ran our book fair after school from 3.10-4pm where grown-ups were invited to browse with their children.
YAY! On day 2 of our fair we SMASHED our target, taking a whopping total of £1005.00. We then proceeded to the end of our book fair finishing up with a grand total of £1475.13. On the last day of the fair we ran a 'GOLDEN TICKET' treasure hunt. Four golden tickets were hidden in and around junior school for all girls to find during break time. The lucky winners of the tickets then chose a book from the book cases to take home.
Congratulations to the winners...

As a reward for having our Book Fair we will receive 60% of the total amount we made back from Travelling Books to spend on new books for our Junior School Library. This means we will have £885.07 in total to spend.
I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to parents/guardians, children and staff for supporting us with our Travelling Book Fair!
