The Magical World of Henri Rousseau

Primary 3 have been studying the Rainforest in lots of different ways. In art classes, Ms Knox introduced Primary 3 to a self-taught French artist called Henri Rousseau who pretended he'd been to the rainforests in Mexico! Instead, he drew and painted wild creatures that he'd spotted in magazines or when visiting the zoo and his jungles were inspired by pot plants and trips to the botanical gardens in Paris.

Primary 3 made tiny colour studies inspired by Rousseau's jungles in their sketchbooks and learnt to blend oil pastels to create a joyful Rainforest Frieze. Primary 3 have worked so well together and have also discovered Rousseau's strange and magical art. Bravo!
