Blogs and News - St George's School For Girls, Edinburgh
Four girls in Lower 4 were selected to represent the school in a Scottish Schools LTA tennis event last Friday, which was hosted here at St George's. It was a great opportunity for the girls to play a mix of singles and doubles matches and to be tested by a range of schools from Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee. The girls started well against The Mary Erskine School with strong wins across the board. They were also dominant in their matches against Dundee where they looked more settled and confident in their match play towards the end of the afternoon. Unfortunately, George Heriot's and Strathallan proved too strong, with a range of club players in their teams. Overall winners on the day were Strathallan who played some excellent tennis. Well done to Honor, Julia, Tessa and Lindsay for all your hard work and good sportsmanship on the day.
The senior 1st, 2nd and 3rd VI teams have been out every Tuesday and Saturday competing against a number of schools in doubles fixtures. To date, our best matches were against Loretto and High School of Dundee with some superb wins across the board. It is fantastic to see so many senior girls committing to the tennis season through the examination diet.
