Last week, the Lower School Eco Team went out to the potato patch, armed with trowels, forks and gardening gloves. We set to, digging up the three different varieties of potato that had been planted last year. We had great fun and it was like finding treasure as each new cluster of potatoes was uncovered! It was a good harvest and we were able to fill an entire sack full of potatoes – a satisfying result. We all had great fun, even if our shoes got a bit muddy!
The following day, the Team presented our potatoes to Tony in the school kitchens. He cooked them up into delicious wedges which we had with our lunch! It was really great to see our very own potatoes grown, harvested, cooked and enjoyed – from plot to plate!
We also gave some potatoes to Mrs Nicholson in the Biology Lab for her science experiments and the Primary 6 Eco girls had some fun in class making a working potato clock!
