Blogs and News - St George's School, Edinburgh
Can you imagine what it would be like to be given a house or flat after being homeless? It would be amazing... until you realised that it was empty. You might not have a spoon to eat your cereal, or plates to eat your food from or shampoo to wash your hair or toothpaste to clean your teeth.
This is a real situation for some people in Edinburgh. Thankfully there is a charity that can help them called Fresh Start. We had a visit from a lady called Carrie Ann who works at Fresh Start. She told us about the charity and what we could do to help. In Lower School we are collecting donations of cleaning materials, long lasting food, bed linen and towels, plates and mugs, small electrical items like kettles and pots and pans. The things you donate don't have to be new, as long as they are in very good condition. All these things will go to Fresh Start where they will be made into packs for people who need them.
We are looking forward to our Harvest Assembly on Monday 7th October when we will be able to give Fresh Start all the things we have managed to collect. We would like to encourage you to bring your donations to your form rooms. When you donate you will know that you are making a difference. Thank you.
